I want to thank everyone who came to the meeting Thursday evening. We are so excited for this semester!

Here are the minutes from our first meeting 8/26:

- Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept. 15 through Oct.15. We decided that if we can find several films, we want to have a documentary series through out the month.  For those of you who had suggestions for films to show, please try to get a hold of a copy asap. And if anyone has any other ideas for a film, please email me or let us know next week at our meeting. *Also NAHJ will look into seeing if we can get Ragtag Cinema to sponsor our documentary series

-Fall welcome which is a fair where all the journalism organizations get together and give out information is Thursday, September 2, 2010. It will be from 3:30-5pm in 100A in Reynolds Journalism Institute. All NAHJ members are welcome to stop by the table at anytime or just come by the fair to check out all the other journalism organizations.

-NAHJ needs a new design for our flyers to give out.

-NAHJ wants to get tshirts this year.

We need a simpler design for this years tshirt, especially because we are getting the shirts done through The Design Center.
*Aaron and Rob, don’t forget to stop by Ana Romero’s office, 132 Neff Annex. to pick up the disk of Mizzou logos in order to use for the tshirt design.

-The job of the Historian has been changed a bit. Beba Williams, NAHJ Historian will now update our WordPress blog with the weekly minutes as well as the upcoming events of the organization. In addition to the WordPress blog, NAHJ will be getting a Tumblr, which we will use as an online scrapbook.

-We are looking into getting the founder of the ETP network to come and speak with us about how to make yourself more appealing to employers.

-Also as a organization we want to begin to critique articles we find in the news. So every week we want someone to bring in a news story that involves Latinos so we can discuss it.

Thanks for visiting the blog of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists at Mizzou. We exist to:

• Organize, support, and aid Hispanic journalists on campus.
